How did you spend your Year Abroad? 

I did a semester studying at the University of Neuchatel in Switzerland and the University of Hamburg in Germany

Briefly outline your journey from graduation to now. 

I had a job lined up working in records management at Gloucestershire County Council before graduation, and from there I gained more interest in data protection. After moving into an information governance officer role at Bath & North East Somerset Council, I began my masters in Records Management and Information Rights, which I completed via distance learning in 2024. I now work as the information governance officer at Gloucester City Council

What is your current job? Information Governance Officer at Gloucester City Council

What does your current job involve day to day? 

Managing data risks, responding to queries and data breaches, improving compliance, delivering training

What do you enjoy most about your job? 

The variety and my ability to define the work I do

What advice would you give to someone interested in this job? 

There's going to be resistance but find your supporters and get them on side and fighting with you

Do you use or practise your languages outside of work?  

Rarely! Although I spent 2 years living in Germany (23-25) whilst working remotely for my UK job
